Prayer Request for SIL - Matt
Dear friends, please pray for our SIL Matt, his pace maker went off in the pool this afternoon at around 3:40 pm. He went under and it took his two male cousins to get him out. We had 911 on the phone and it took the paramedics over 15 min to get to the house. His pace maker sent shocks four more times while we had laying flat on the cement decking. By the time the medics got here, we had Matt stable, they hooked him up, ran the cardio, still took him in the hospital to have the Cardiologist check out why the pace maker went off or if he actually had a mild heart attack.
Kat went with him to the hospital, his Dad (who is in a wheelchair) was in no condition to drive was driven by one of the cousin along with his sister - Don and I are watching Penny and Ollie. We're waiting on word from them, so far he's stable and waiting on tests.
I'm kind of worried how long it took them to get here, we're in a big suburb, not in the country. We're used to 5 minutes at the most. When we're dealing with heart issues, it's scary when it takes this long to get a defip to your home. :(
Thank you all, Ruby, Don, Kat and family

Re: Prayer Request for SIL - Matt
He's in my thoughts and prayers.
A friend of mine has a brother with a pacemaker that went off on him while he was here, in the driveway. Darn thing zapped him 4 or 5 times, taking the breath away from him. The paramedics came and took him to the hospital. Turns out the pacemaker was just having fits, there wasn't anything wrong with him at all. Boy, was he about ready to rip that thing out of his chest, he was so mad at it zapping him for no reason.

Re: Prayer Request for SIL - Matt
Prayers sent and will continue. This family has had enough busyness for awhile with the move....without health issues, too. Hope all is well.

Re: Prayer Request for SIL - Matt
Oh my goodness. Prayers definately going out for your SIL. I'm surprised it took 15 min. to get an AED there. We are in a rural area and it usually doesn't take that long. Many of our first responders carry AED's so you don't have to wait for the ambulance to get there.

Re: Prayer Request for SIL - Matt
Thank you all, we can feel your prayers and love. Kat sends her love and thanks as well. She's overwhelmed right now at the hospital with Matt and his family.
The ER doc and Cardiologist are keeping him overnight eventhough Matt is stable at this time. One of the ensymes is out of whack but the others are ok. He'll have a stress test tomorrow as well as some other test as well - Plus they are going to run his Pacemaker and Defib through their technical tests. They gave him some meds to calm him down/stop the shakes as his Crohns has been acting up as well from all the moving stress on his body. Seeing him in his swim trunks just reminds me how skinny he is at 6'4" - he's at 155 now. Way too skinny. :(
We were suppose to go home on Sunday the 15th, but SS check didn't hit 'till today and the flight was sold out - I got a flight for Wednesday the 18th. Strange how things work out...now we'll have more time to help Kat with the kids to make sure that Matt will be ok. We can also unpack/put the stuff away from the Pod before we leave while watching the kids.
Again, thank you for your prayers and concern. Love you all, Ruby and family.

Re: Prayer Request for SIL - Matt
Ruby, strange things happen for a reason. I cannot picture myself in Kat's position. She must be scared beyond speechless. You need to be there to support her. My prayers . . . what can I say?

Re: Prayer Request for SIL - Matt
Oh Ruby, I can't imagine how scary that must have been. There really is no reason for them to have taken so long to get there. Prayers for Matt, Kat, you, Don, and the rest of the family.

Re: Prayer Request for SIL - Matt
Ruby, I am so sorry to hear all this. But he is being well cared for by hospital staff. Grandchildren are definitely being cared for by LOVING grandparents. I am sure that Kat is relieved that you are still there.
Prayers all around for you all.

Re: Prayer Request for SIL - Matt
I will keep your family in my prayers. That must have been a very scary time.
Out here in the boonies we hear the sound of the life-flight helicopter quite often. Since the closest hospital is in Springfield about 70 miles away that is how a lot of the emergencies get to the hospital. It's scary to think how long it would take to get an ambulance here for the EMTs before the call would go out for the helicopter if needed.

Oh Ruby, I am so sorry to read this, I must have missed this post yesterday.
How is he doing??
I hope he will be fine, I will keep him and Kat and kids, and your whole family in my prayers, what a shock it must have been to see him like that.
Big hug from the Netherlands for you and Don!!!!

Re: Prayer Request for SIL - Matt
Ruby, I am on my knees, hands folded together now, praying. I hope Matt is doing better today. I know that had to be scary for not only Katt but the whole family. Thank you God those that pulled him out were there! I am praying they fix the problem and he's feeling better and back with the family soon. Bless you my friend. Donna

Re: Prayer Request for SIL - Matt
Our family feels so blessed to have you all as our Angels, praying for Matt. :)
Matt is only 30 years old, he's had Crohns since he was 16 and has been only heavy meds since then. Had his first heart attack at 21. In 2010, he had three heart attacks within 3 hours. They put in a pacemaker and defib to stop that, later they discovered he had a malignant adrenal gland that was causing all the trouble. However because of all the damage the drugs are causing to his body, they wanted to leave the p/d in. Good thing they did!
Just spoke to Kat (we're watching Oliver and Penny) Matt is feeling much better this morning. His defib went off a total of six times yesterday afternoon, thinking he was having six heart attack sessions. Needless to say, he was in extreme pain!! Both pacemaker and defib are working as they should technically. He just left for his Stress test and afterwards they'll take an Echo test. It will take at least two hours before he comes back, she'll head back home to feed Penny - will make the little one happy, formula is not her favorite. lol
Matt's Dad and Stepmom Jan are heading to see his Grandma Betty who is in Hospice care, she was expecting the kids and greatgrandkids today. She'll be told the babies are under the weather. Don't want to worry her at this time.
Again, Matt and Kat really appreciates your prayers as well as the rest of the family. Love all of you, Don and Ruby
